The Showgirl Alaskabou uses pink and purple marabou. As with all of our Alaskabou flies, the Showgirl is tied with a silver flash body and palmered marabou. The Alaskabou is tied using just a sparse amount of flash. Palmering the marabou gives the fly a distinctive tear drop shape when drawn through the water. The Alaskabou has established a reputation as a great attractor fly for Steelhead, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, and Chum Salmon along the west coast migratory runs and up the Alaskan coastal waters. The Showgirl has also proven to be an effective pattern for fishing the stories Atlantic salmon rivers of eastern Canada. Clients fishing the Margaree and Miramichi have told us the Showgirl has been responsible for several Atlantics, kelts and adventurous brookies. The Alaskabou is fished by quartering downstream and retrieving the fly in short strips. The stripping takes advantage of the dynamic pulsing action of the marabou.
