Tumblin Beetle Black
The Tumblin Beetle fly pattern is designed to look like a beetle that has fallen into the water and is struggling to survive. Fish are naturally attracted to vulnerable prey, making this surface fly an excellent choice for catching trout in various bodies of water, including ponds, rivers, lakes, and streams. Its realistic appearance and behaviour make it a highly effective pattern for any angler looking to lure in hungry fish.
Jeremy's Tumblin Beetle is tied with a foam wing over a dubbed body, which helps it to float on the surface of the water. Its legs are made from dry fly hackle feathers and goose biots which add to its realistic buggy appearance in the water.
One of the benefits of using the Tumblin Beetle is its versatility. It can be fished on the surface as a dry fly, or it can be fished just below the surface as an emerged/drowned terrestrial fly. The fly can be drifted along the current or stripped slowly across the surface to imitate the movement of a struggling beetle.
During the summer, beetles are more active, and there's a higher chance of them falling into the water, making the Tumblin Beetle an incredibly effective fly pattern. It's also a great option in the fall when trout are looking for food to fatten up for winter. Thanks to the hi-vis post on the fly, you can easily spot it on the water, so you won't miss any subtle strikes, regardless of the lighting conditions.
