The Tumblin Beetle is a surface fly that imitates a beetle that has fallen into the water and is struggling to get back to safe ground. A bug that presents itself in this vulnerable scenario is a prime target for hunting fish. Its realistic appearance and behaviour make it an effective pattern for catching trout in ponds, rivers, lakes, and streams.

Jeremy's Tumblin Beetle is tied with a foam wing over a dubbed body, which helps it to float on the surface of the water. Its legs are made from dry fly hackle feathers and goose biots which add to its realistic buggy appearance in the water.

One of the benefits of using the Tumblin Beetle is its versatility. It can be fished on the surface as a dry fly, or it can be fished just below the surface as an emerged/drowned terrestrial fly. The fly can be drifted along the current or stripped slowly across the surface to imitate the movement of a struggling beetle.

The Tumblin Beetle is particularly effective during the summer months when beetles are more active and are more likely to fall into the water. It can also be effective during the fall when trout are looking for food to fatten up for the winter. The added hi-vis post on the fly allows it to easily be seen on the water in a wide range of lighting conditions so that you don't miss any subtle strikes.
